1.

Creole Creamery:  A prime ice cream spot in the area. The second you walk through the doors of this fine establishment, your nose is hit with that glorious telltale smell of a quality ice cream shop. Some of their unique creations include peanut butter fudge pie, molasses oatmeal cookie, black and gold crunch, and honey lavender.

2.

Cafe Du Monde: When people think about New Orleans, beignets are often the first thing to come to mind. Cafe Du Monde is the Mecca of beignets. Open 24 hours a day, there is always a line. Although it does tend to be shorter at around 2 AM. I may or may not know that personally. While I tend to try and avoid touristy places, this is a must-do on your New Orleans bucket list.

3.

Dong Phuong: New Orleans is famous for its king cake and is one of many traditions locals indulge in to celebrate Mardi Gras. King cake is a cinnamon roll type cake loaded with icing and yellow, green, and purple sprinkles. Many places make it, but my favorite king cake is from a Vietnamese baker outside of the city. There are a few secret spots to find it close by, but I will not share that secret.

4.

Drip Affogato Bar: A fucking affogato bar. Say no more. Build your own espresso drenched ice cream or have one of the various combinations they offer. This place should become a national chain.

5.

Lucky Dog: Branded “street meat.” Mediocre hot dogs, you will probably only eat hammered on Bourbon Street or starving in the shitty Louis Armstrong Airport. These were made especially famous due to the book A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole.

6.

Angelo Brocato: Yummy gelato place that screams Italy. Is it the best gelato I have ever had? No, we are not in Florence. However, it does bode well. I would recommend to a friend.
