Garden District
URBAN SOUTH
My favorite brewery in the city. Urban South is a renovated warehouse with string lights hanging across the ceiling. They have food trucks come through, as well. As far as beers go, I enjoy Holy Roller and Paradise Park.

THE BULLDOG
An old New Orleans dive bar with a countless beer selection. During the day, people bring dogs as the name suggests. The backyard has a crazy fountain made of beer taps. On Wednesdays, buy any beer on tap, and you are able to bring the glass home which features a funny beer/drinking related pun. I have a collection of them.

F&M'S
Another place I wouldn’t recommend to anyone sophisticated or not in college. Thursdays and Saturdays are the nights to go. Don’t go on a Friday if you are above the age of 20, or people will think you are a pedophile. Ironic, isn’t it. They are famous for their cheese fries. The photo attached looks gross but drink a couple of vodka Redbulls, and I promise it looks better.

TIPITINA'S
Who are we kidding? The world-renowned bar with the banana peel logo. The bar always played signature sounds of New Orleans but was only able to sell fruit juice, thus the banana peel in the logo. The times have changed and they have a full bar. Tipitina’s was recently bought by New Orleans native band, Galactic, and they play their often. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to see a show here. It’s sacred land. If you can beat the heat during the summer, there are free shows on Friday nights. Avoid the street meat outside of the place, the guys tend to serve possum.

MS. MAE'S
A dirty bar with special charm. Located on a Magazine Street corner, Miss Mae’s is open 24 hours. I really needed to add a bar to this list, that is. I went one time only, and it was during a graduation day bar crawl.

THE REVOLUTION
A bar on the border of the Garden District and CBD. It is an homage to Black History and is decorated with iconic African American heroes. The drinks have names to match the aesthetic and are enjoyable. The place itself has an awesome patio to chill on.

TCHOUP YARD
An indoor/outdoor bar with Christmas lights and a very cool scene. The crowd usually consists of people in their mid-20s to early 40s. They have a massive collection of local beers and frozen drinks. They also have cornhole. Fantastic at all times of the day with a big group of friends.

HOT TIN
One of the best rooftop bars in New Orleans. Located at the top of the Pontchartrain Hotel, it used to be a penthouse but has since been converted into an eclectic 1940’s style bar with modern twists. Aside from the views and the scene, Hot Tin offers some of the best cocktails in the city. Also, the hotel has been remodeled to reflect a similar feel and features a great bar downstairs and a hip restaurant called Jack Rose, which I have not tried. On the weekends, the bar can have up to a 2 hour wait, so plan accordingly. I would suggest going for mid morning drinks because there is no time NOT to drink in New Orleans.

NOLA BREWING COMPANY
The Brewery that houses McClure’s BBQ mentioned in the food section. They make several famous New Orleans beers, including Hopitoulas and NOLA Blonde. They also have a collaboration with the New Orleans native band, the Revivalists, and Tulane University. Therefore I’m a big fan!

THE SAINT
An underground bar that is sort of like an adult F&M’s. It usually gets popping after the touring shows in New Orleans get let out. Therefore around 2AM-5AM. I have gone when it’s been full and when it has been absolutely empty. When it’s complete, it becomes a really cool underground bar, and you feel as though you teleported to a speakeasy in Central Europe. But a lot of times they just play throwbacks.

TRACEY'S
A famous Irish Pub where you can get a Guinness. During the legendary New Orleans St. Patrick’s Day Parade, it is home base. While I recommend going on a Magazine Street bar crawl for this exceptional day, Tracey’s is a necessity for St. Patty’s. Be sure to wear green. I’ve also gone when it isn’t March 17th, and I recommend it on those nights as well.
