Breakfast- Bakeries and Coffee
Growing local coffee chain that utilizes New Orleans chickory coffee.
French Truck Coffee**
One of my favorite coffees in the city, maybe even the world. I have a weird theory that Blue Bottle Coffee stole the “New Orleans coffee” from them but do not fact check because I am probably wrong. The food is decent, but the portions are small. People find this spot a suitable location to do work. They have an excellent selection of baked goods. Typically, I prefer my coffee black, but French Truck has a unique blend, naturally called the New Orleans Iced Coffee, with a particular sweetener that is outrageously tasty.

Trendy neighborhood coffee spot
Revelator Coffee Company
Another cool trendy coffee shop to check out. Minimalist interior design. Friendly and local neighborhood feel. Almost like Blue Bottle before it exploded. While it is a big chain, it still has a genuine feel to it.

The iconic donut store of New Orleans
District Donuts
The classic, trendy, iconic donut destination of New Orleans. They serve all kinds of insane seasonal, and artisanal heavenly circles of flakey goodness. Some of their unique flavors include coconut cream, Black and Gold (Saints themed, and Girl Scout Samoa. They now serve breakfast and lunch, have almost 80,000 Instagram followers, and even have a shop in Las Vegas. However, going for just the donuts is very worth your while.

Incredible coffee shop with fantastic baked goods.
Congregation Coffee Roasters**
A little far out of town, on the other side of the Mississippi. If you ever find yourself in the Algiers neighborhood of NOLA, you must go. The coffee is even better than French Truck, and we get it shipped to California. Everything they make is fresh, and the food is also exquisite. I have a feeling this neighborhood may be the newest hip-gentrified area of New Orleans because gentrification always starts with the coffee shop. Just recently, they opened a new location in CBD.

Affordable bakery in Uptown with delectable creations, many of which are vegan.
Breads on Oak
Homemade pastries. Mouth-watering loaves of bread. You should try the quiches and brioches. Very affordable and easy. Simple and high quality with plenty of vegan options. Located Uptown, the bakery is in a charming area to walk around before or after a meal.

Ace Hotel coffee pop up
Stumptown
Another noteworthy coffee shop, although there are a lot of locations in the country. I believe they have a partnership with the Ace Hotel as there is one at the Ace Downtown LA, as well. They also sell in grocery stores but still maintain a high-quality product.

Hip bakery known for its sourdough bread loaves and unique pastries.
Levee Baking Co.
The new ultimate foodie destination bakery. Levee supplies bread for many hip restaurants around the city, including Mosquito Supper Club. The head baker, Christina Balzebre, also worked for Satsuma and the Link Restaurant Group. Balzebre has been a baker for a while, but her flagship bakery store just opened. They are famous for their sourdough, but there aren’t any duds. I enjoyed the focaccia with tomatoes.

Bywater food hall with local vendors
St. Roch
This budding food hall featuring various restaurant booths is similar to Grand Central Market in Los Angeles or Chelsea Market in New York. Many of the eateries can open their own brick and mortar restaurants shortly after opening/debuting here. I recommend Good Bird for salads and sandwiches, Mayhaw for cocktails, and Elysian for oysters. While St. Roch is by no means exclusively a coffee shop, it can serve a similar purpose by offering something light to hold you over. You could also choose to order a massive plate of Egyptian cuisine and feel the opposite satisfaction.
